BARNSLEY NATIONALISTS: Britain has lost control over Polish immigration

A senior British diplomat in Poland has admitted Britain is losing control over Polish immigration to the UK.

He was speaking at a forum to discuss a survey on Polish immigration where it was also revealed many Poles in England were taking well paid qualified jobs while failing to integrate into UK life despite having no plans to return home.

Paul Fox, the Consul General at the British Embassy in Poland, said Polish immigration to the UK had been an unprecedented development.

He said: "What has happened has been unique. We don't know where we are going...It's a situation over which we have little control."
Mr Fox was speaking after the results of a survey headed by Warsaw University migration specialist Krystyna Iglicka were presented in the Polish capital.

The survey, which was funded by the US German Marshall Fund and carried out by the Polish Centre for International Relations, questioned almost 700 Poles living in the UK.

In the survey 23 per cent of respondents said they would never go back to Poland and a further 32 per cent said that if they ever went back it would not be for another five to ten years.

"I am not optimistic about Poles coming back," said immigration expert Iglicka,
