Islamist Family jihad tour: European parents are 'taking children to terror training camps'

German intelligence is warning of a new breed of terrorist - whole family groups travelling to training camps on the Afghan-Pakistan border where they learn how to use explosives and raise funds.


Parents travelling with children have in the past raised less suspicion than single men or women travelling to and from Germany.

Now officials have the names of 100 suspects they believe may be radicalised and ready to strike.

Germany is braced for a terror attack after repeated threats because of its involvement in Afghanistan.

Authorities say the new breed of terrorist - including Germans who have converted to Islam - even travel with babies to the 'bandit country' of Waziristan.

'Authorities are also concerned by the sheer speed with which this third generation are radicalised and their abrupt readiness to disappear and start a new life in a terror training camp,' said a report in Der Spiegel magazine on Monday.

One couple was identified as Jan and Alexandra, 20 and 17, when they vanished with another couple from Berlin to learn jihad. At the time Alexandra was six months' pregnant.

Investigators believe Jan has appeared in a video for a new jihadist group, which has posted threats on the internet promising to blow up German landmarks like the Brandenburg Gate and the railway station in Hamburg.

Gordon Brown's Immigration Shame Over Plans To Cut Border Agency Staff


Gordon Brown’s promise to crack down on immigration was in tatters last night after secret plans to slash Border Agency staff emerged.


Up to a third of all staff, numbering hundreds, are to be made redundant in a round of drastic cost-cutting by the Government.


It is another humiliating blow to Labour’s credibility on the explosive issue of immigration, with the election campaign expected to begin officially tomorrow.


Mr Brown is already facing ridicule after suffering a devastating rebuke from Whitehall’s most senior statistics expert for fiddling immigration figures.


And critics yesterday accused the Prime Minister of “hypocrisy” after he boasted on Wednesday that Britain had one of the best border controls in the world.


Just 48 hours before Mr Brown’s comments, an email was sent to Border Agency staff telling them of the redundancy plans.

The message from personnel chief Joe Dugdale revealed voluntary job losses because of “on-going reductions in asylum intake”. He said frontline services would not be affected but offices at key ports, including Dover, have been told they will no longer man immigration desks 24 hours a day, seven days a week.


The cuts will affect London – including offices in Croydon – Liverpool, Sheffield and Kent.

A Border Agency source said: “This is being done to save money, pure and simple. They want to get rid of 30 per cent of staff. Hundreds will lose their jobs.

“There are thousands of people hiding at Calais waiting to get in
and terrorists are trying to smuggle bomb parts.”
