Arrests made after horror attack on teen
A LONE teenage boy was knocked unconscious, stabbed in the hand and had his teeth knocked loose by a gang who stole his bicycle.
His traumatised mum said her son was out with friends at Rectory Park in Thornhill, just hours after the family returned from holiday on Friday.
He was expected home at 9pm, but at 8.50pm the gang of about 10 to 15, who had been in the park, chased him.
They hit his head with a brick, stabbed him in the hand with a screwdriver and kicked him, before taking his bike, a £200 blue and green BMX given to him at Christmas.
The 14-year-old tried to stagger home, but collapsed unconscious at the bottom of Frank Lane, where he was found by a passer-by.
The boy had his two front teeth knocked loose, his hand was broken, he needed five stitches to a head wound, and was stabbed in the other hand.
His 40-year-old mother, who did not want to be named, said: "Nothing prepared me for what I saw. He was on the bench in the bus stop. The guy was supporting him, holding him up and he had a towel on his head.
"He was covered in blood and you could see skull in the cut on his forehead. I thought I was going to lose him. I was a wreck."
The boy was taken to Dewsbury and District Hospital and stayed overnight before being taken to Pinderfields for further treatment.
His mum added: "He doesn't want to go out, he won't leave the house. It's upset the whole family."
Insp Jenny Thompson said: "This was a vicious, unprovoked attack that has left him with serious injuries."
Last night, police arrested three Asian youths in the Savile Town area in connection with the attack.
The 14-year-old boy and two 16-year-old boys are currently in custody.
