
A Tory councillor has been claiming his £800-a-month allowance despite being on an 'extended holiday' in Australia for the last three months, it has emerged.
Christopher Harris has been 10,000 miles away travelling since July.
Today his political rivals on Barnet Council in north London have branded his astonishing behaviour 'unacceptable' and 'immoral'.
Mr Harris, 35, is claiming more than £800-a-month council allowance to serve the residents of Golders Green in north London.
Jack Cohen, Lib Dem councillor for neighbouring Child's Hill ward, said: 'This is unacceptable.
'Whilst Clllr Harris is waltzing Matilda in the Outback the rest of us are slogging away.
'How long have they known about this?'
