BARNSLEY NATIONALISTS: Tory Councillor in court on charge of sexually assaulting girl, 16

A former deputy leader of Solihull council has appeared in court accused of sexually assaulting a 16-year-old girl.

Coun Ian Hillas, aged 42, who represents Castle Bromwich ward, appeared before Warley Magistrates yesterday.

He pleaded not guilty to one charge of sexual assault involving stroking and groping the girl’s breast in Cradley Heath at 4am on May 17 this year and elected to have a trial at crown court.

Hillas, of Oakwood Croft, Solihull, who is a cabinet member for economic development and regeneration, was given conditional bail but banned from entering the south area of Sandwell including Cradley Heath, told to keep away from the alleged victim, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, and to not have any contact with two other witnesses.
