BARNSLEY NATIONALISTS: Tory Councillor on Drink Drive charge

A Conservative councillor from Walsall could be forced to step down from the West Midlands Police authority after pleading guilty to drink driving.

Zahid Ali was almost twice the legal alcohol limit when he was stopped by police, Walsall magistrates heard last week.

The 42-year-old, who has is the borough's cabinet member for children and young people, was caught behind the wheel of his Ford Focus at around 1.15am on Saturday, January 30 in Birmingham Road, near the Broadway.

A breath test showed he had 63mg of alcohol in 100ml of breath.
The legal limit is 35mg.
