50 illegal workers caught in Birmingham Council swoop

NEARLY 50 Birmingham City Council employees have been given their marching orders after being exposed as illegal immigrants.
The embarrassing discovery was made by council audit investigators after they tapped into data stored in a Home Office computer.

The exercise was ordered earlier this year after an illegal immigrant, John Kaduwanema, was jailed for seven and a half years after stealing more than £1 million from the council's social services department.
The Ugandan bought a luxury car and five properties with the money he stole after being hired to work in the payments team on the basis of forged papers.
