A few weeks ago Barnsley was hit by some of the worst floods in the history of the town. Since the 2001 River Dearne floods, Barnsley council have done nothing to protect homes against overflowing rivers. Now its the turn of Southern England. In some parts of the country a month’s rain fell in 1 hour. Half a million homes are now without water and power. The weather forecasters predict no end in sight. So where's Bob Geldof, Bono and all the other unwashed, trendy pop stars? If this flooding was happening in some far flung corner of the third world, these pop star luvvys would be falling all over themselves to record a charity single. Wembley would wired up for sound and the Black Broadcasting Corporation would be clearing the schedule for a 24 hour live telethon.
Oh well if Bob isn’t interested then maybe her Majesty's opposition will show some compassion? Err. No. Sorry! His constituents are up to their knees in mud but David Cameron is too busy sitting in a mud hut in Rwanda.
Of course it wouldn't have made the slightest difference whether Bono or Cameron were seen on TV shaking hands with the odd Tory/Labour voting nut-case flood victim, too thick and stupid to realise they are just being used by these pompous self publicists any more than Gordon Brown flying over affected areas in a helicopter. But at least it would have conveyed a sense of getting their priorities right.
Apparently before Cameron turned his back on the people of this country for Africa, he refused to cancel the trip saying that there could be no going back on his crusade for compassionate conservatism! Well Cameron, as far as the people you expect to vote for you are concerned, its not the lack of clean water in Rwanda which is at the top of their agenda, but a lack of clean drinking water in the South of England!
As leader of the opposition, Cameron should been here in England, making mince meat of this corrupt government. He should have been asking Gordon Brown why he gave £8 billion away in overseas aid to Africa whilst at the same time he was slashing millions off Britain's flood defence budget. He might have questioned the government's climate change policies by asking whey they are hell-bent on continuously expanding airports, building new roads but refusing to build new electrified railways. He might have attacked the wisdom of building 3 million new homes, many of which will be on flood plains, in which to house masses of white refugees who have been pushed out of the inner cities by an army of immigrants and drug gangsters.
I've been wondering now for a long time, how long will it take and how many more rank and file members the Conservative party are prepared to loose before they realise that Cameron hasn't got the back bone or integrity to lead their party never mind this country? And to think that only two MP have so far signed a proposed no confidence vote in this political wet blanket! The main problem now for the conservatives is that they haven't got anybody to replace him with. If only they had somebody with some integrity like Nick Griffin! The only party left in this country that will put the British people first for a change is the British National Party!
