Test to reveal ‘inner racism’ in job applicants

A test is being developed to detect "hidden" racism in job applicants.
It is intended to unmask negative associations that potential employees could have towards ethnic groups.


Candidates are asked to put images of black and white faces into categories of "good/positive" and "bad/negative" using arrow keys on the keyboard. By getting them to respond to prompts as quickly as possible, the test aims to side-step what is known as "cognitive control"

Frightening as it is there could be a plus side to this.

I honestly believe blacks and Asians are more racist than whites so it could backfire on the Marxist slime by exposing who the real racists are. It would put the likes of Trevor Phillips and Kieth Vaz on the dole.

I wonder if this computer can expose whites who hate their own race! That would be the end of the Labour party.

Tests of this sort reveal more about the person or people setting the test than those people taking it. Indeed, it's arguable that all such tests are nonsense. Example question to demonstrate:

Intelligence test; question:

Picture of a cup, followed by a)picture of a saucer
b)picture of a table-top

Which goes with the picture of the cup - a) or b)?

Two children taking the test. One has had a comfortable middle-class upbringing, always had saucers when he had a cup of tea; the other was brought up the way I was brought up - in poverty and never saw a saucer throughout childhood - the cup always went directly onto the table.

The first child will answer a), the saucer and will be marked as correct and thus intelligent; the second child, based on his life's experience will answer b), the table, and will be marked as incorrect and unintelligent.

But would this question tell us anything at all about either child, other than, possibly, the circumstances of their upbringing?

The question - indeed the entire test - tells us more about the person setting the test than it does of either of those two children.

I've simplified just to illustrate the point.
