This is part of what is called the rabat committment....this is where the rules come from i.e. to teach british kids islam. part of the eu/arab dialogue. love how the world will be taught arabic. soon this will be mentioned again it will include mandarin or another language to chose to prevent alarm bells ringing...since when was Arabic a main language with English and French?SEE THISSupplied by Veronica

Arabic is used, of course, throughout the Arab world. French is big in North Africa and the Levant, with English big in the rest of the Arab world.
Between Britain and France we colonised, or at least governed, the entire Arab world. Spain got a couple of small bits.
That's the connection between the languages.
I do note from the final part if the INESCO charter, that where there are disputes over interpretation of the charter, then the interpretation by two/one of the three languages shall be the determining factor. However, one of the two must be the founding language i.e. Arabic. This bothers me because once, in the middle-East, I asked a Jordanian work colleague if he would please translate for me a letter I had written in Arabic. He was able to do so, but he told me that he couldn't be precise about the meaning in some places because, he told me, only the person who wrote it knows with absolute certainty what he meant by what he wrote. He told me Arabic was like that.
Now we know why we can never pin the bastards down on anything "No" they say "it doesn't mean that, it means this". That familiar to you?
Other than that, I don't find this sinister - it is, after all, an Arab organisation and it is operating openly rather than secretly.
I just read the "Common Purpose" article though, and that I DO find sinister. Thanks for that post - forewarned is forearmed; and I agree with you: the organisation could do with a bit of daylight.
