Rushdie title ‘is an insult to Islam’

Britain has been accused of insulting Islam by conferring a knighthood on author Salman Rushdie.

His book The Satanic Verses offended Muslims worldwide and in 1989 led to Iran issuing a fatwa – a religious edict – ordering Rushdie's execution.

An Iranian foreign ministry spokesman said yesterday: 'Honouring and commending an apostate and hated figure will definitely put the British officials in a position of confrontation with Islamic societies.

The Religion of Peace eh?

And to think the idiots we have in Barnsley townhall say that Islam is a peacefull relegion!

Sureley if it was peacefull then they would not be making death threats?
